Residential
Areas are Close to the Eisenhower Corridor
CAT Home | Previous Photo | Next Photo | Photo Index
The
photograph shows the Eisenhower Corridor looking east from the Lombard
Bridge. Residential areas on both sides
of the expressway are close to the roadway, exposing residents to air and noise
pollution, as well as the grit from traffic on the Ike.
Notice
the extra roadway width required because of the tapers leading to and from the
Austin Boulevard Ramps.
The
CTA’s Blue Line Austin Station is on the right.
If
IDOT widens the expressway, they would likely cut back the grass
slope on the left side of the photo and make it a retaining wall.
