Home Ave. Bridge showing vertical supportsCitizens for Appropriate Transportation (CAT)

THE HOME AVE BRIDGE IS AN IMPORTANT LINK BETWEEN SOUTH OAK PARK AND THE REST OF THE VILLAGE

The Home Avenue Pedestrian Bridge is the only pedestrian bridge in the corridor.  The two middle schools and the high school are located north of the Eisenhower Corridor, so students living in South Oak Park must cross the Ike to get to school.

If the alignment of the expressway, CTA, or CSX railroad changes, then the vertical supports will be in the wrong place.  This will require reconstruction of this bridge and any other bridge facing the same situation.
