1993 to 1998, IDOT did a feasibility study of HOV alternatives and concluded
that HOV lanes are feasible. IDOT then
started a Phase 1 Engineering and Environmental Study for HOV lanes, but this
study is now on hold pending the outcome of the Regional Transportation
Authority’s Cook-DuPage Corridor Study, which will look at alternative
solutions and then evaluate the alternative solutions to determine a “Preferred
Alternative.”
