Citizens for Appropriate Transportation (CAT)
The Eisenhower
Transportation Corridor
EXISTING CONDITIONS
The Eisenhower
Corridor has three modes of transportation:
- Eisenhower Expressway with 6 through lanes that
carry about 200,000 vehicles a day
- CTA Blue Line with 2 tracks and space for a
third Express Track
- CSX freight tracks (3 tracks in some areas and
2 tracks in other areas)
Crossing the
Eisenhower Corridor are:
- Pace and the CTA bus routes with stops at CTA
Blue Line Stations
- Pedestrians walk across the bridges (in an
unfriendly pedestrian environment)
- Bicycle riders use the bridges
Any
solution for the Eisenhower Corridor must consider all modes of transportation.
