Citizens for Appropriate Transportation (CAT)
The Eisenhower Transportation Corridor

EXISTING CONDITIONS

The Eisenhower Corridor has three modes of transportation:

    1. Eisenhower Expressway with 6 through lanes that carry about 200,000 vehicles a day
    2. CTA Blue Line with 2 tracks and space for a third Express Track
    3. CSX freight tracks (3 tracks in some areas and 2 tracks in other areas)

Crossing the Eisenhower Corridor are:

    1. Pace and the CTA bus routes with stops at CTA Blue Line Stations
    2. Pedestrians walk across the bridges (in an unfriendly pedestrian environment)
    3. Bicycle riders use the bridges

Any solution for the Eisenhower Corridor must consider all modes of transportation.
